2019 Goals

To begin 2019 on the best note, I, like millions of others, decided to set some goals for myself . Unlike resolutions, goals are more precise and more measurable.

Happy New Year y’all! It’s so hard to believe we’re at the start of another calendar year! I love the possibilities: a fresh start, a new chapter, a clean slate. To begin 2019 on the best note, I, like millions of others, decided to set some goals for myself . Unlike resolutions, goals are more precise and more measurable.

The launch of my Bodypeace app is scheduled for the spring, so I have multiple meetings, classes, and events every week. I’m busier than ever! I want to make sure I balance my time between my business ambitions and my personal health. In order to keep myself on track as my business flourishes, I have set a combination of professional and personal goals.

 

Write In My Gratitude Journal Every Day

For the past couple years, I’ve kept a gratitude journal to remind myself of the blessings I experience in my life. Last week, I thumbed through it to see a recap of my 2018 year. I realized that some weeks I wrote consistently, and other weeks I didn’t journal at all.

Since journaling is a creative outlet that allows me to decompress, it is something I want to do every day. Life is all about balance, and as important as it is to work hard to achieve your career goals, I think it’s equally important to find activities that are enjoyable, creative outlets. Whether that is art, writing, photography, music, or anything else you revel in, do something that lifts you up!

For me, keeping a gratitude journal perfectly blends my need for a creative outlet while focusing on the positivity in my life. In 2019, I’m journaling every single day, so no matter how stressful that day is, I guarantee myself at least ten minutes of peace and gratitude.

 

Visit Four New Countries

In 2018, I was blessed to be able to visit three new countries! I travelled to the Dominican Republic in the spring and made my way to Europe for the first time when I visited Greece and Turkey last fall. Experiencing other cultures is one of my passions, and no matter how busy I get, I want make time to travel each year. While I’m not sure which places I’ll visit yet, I know that I want to top the number of countries I visited last year.

We can learn so much from different cultures, yet I’m always surprised at how many things I have in common with others, even if they live halfway across the world. I’m hoping to make even more connections when I travel so I can bring my concept of eventual energy to the world! Read Two Books Each Month

It’s no secret, I love to read! I have a stack of  books waiting to be opened, and I don’t think I have ever left Barnes & Noble® without a completely full shopping bag. I’ll read almost any genre — from entrepreneurial type books, to psychology, to holistic health – it rarely matters what the topic is, I want to learn about it!

Now that my business is taking off, I want to read more books about marketing, branding, and customer service so that DeLacy Wellness can offer the best experience possible.

I have to admit though, it is easy for me to put off my reading, especially when I’m busy running between business meetings, teaching private classes, and working behind the scenes on my brand. It’s easy after a long day to put on Netflix instead of reading a book, to mindlessly watch TV as I unwind. This year I’m promising myself that I will get through that stack of books, and by setting a goal of two books a month, it won’t be long until I’m back at Barnes & Noble!

There are many more goals I could come up with for myself this year, but I think this is a good start. 2019 will be a year of hustle, hard work, and change. I’m looking forward to all it will bring, and we’re just at the beginning!
